What are your policies regarding Windows Licenses?
A genuine Windows license resides with the CD-key or CoA (Certificate of Authenticity). This is the sticker that comes with Windows and is usually on the back or side of your computer. If you have lost your Windows key we may be able to get it from your computer if Windows is functioning on it. Keeping your license safe is your responsibility. Affixing the sticker to the side or back of the machine is a good way to ensure that it does not become lost.
While the license agreement from Microsoft is pretty clear with respect to transferring the license from machine to machine, we feel that common sense should win out in the respect that you should have one license per machine and not lose a license when you upgrade -- especially when migrating parts from an outdated system.
We are aware that certain past employees have given free copies of Windows away to friends and favoured customers. This was done against company policy as Think Tank does not pirate. We sell software and hardware -- we don't give away free operating systems with computers though we will install using a key provided to us by our customers if requested. Our policy with regard to this situation is that if you didn't buy Windows from us we are under no obligation to support a pirate version. Every customer who buys Windows from Think Tank Computers Inc. will receive a Windows CD, CoA sticker and an invoice or sales receipt charging for the software.
Why does a fax machine answer your phone sometimes?
We call customers on our fax line to leave the main line free for incoming calls. If you call back on that number instead of our main line you will get our fax machine. |
